Licensed Employees

Licensed employees should not report to work if the district that they are assigned to on that day is closed. If a licensed employee is assigned to more than one district on a day, and one or more of the districts is open that day, the employee should report to the districts that are open on that day during their regular scheduled time and go home during the time that day that they are assigned to the closed district.

When a licensed employee misses time because of a school or district closure, the employee will not suffer any loss of pay. However, if the district chooses to make up the lost time, the employee will be required to work on that make up day without additional compensation. If a licensed employee is unable to get to their assigned work station because of inclement weather, the employee must use personal leave or unpaid leave if no personal leave is available.

Classified Employees

If a classified employee works in more than one district at anytime within their schedule, and one or more of those districts are open on a day, the employee should report to the district that is open even if they do not normally work in that district on the closure day. If a classified employee works at only one site (including the regional office or service centers) and that site is closed, the employee should not report to work.

Classified employees have two emergency closure days. They may use those days if a district is closed and they are not able to report to work. They may also use those days if an employee is unable to get to their assigned work station because of inclement weather. After the two emergency closure days are used up, the employee may use personal leave or vacation (if they are entitled to vacation). If these paid leaves not available, the employee will be in an unpaid status for those days missed.

Administrators or Confidential Employees

Any days missed because of inclement weather should be reported as personal, non-contract or vacation (for those who are entitled to vacation.)
